There days, there are variety of medications that are being used by Gout patients all across the globe. Most commonly these medications can be categorized as anti-inflammatory medications, corticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) and analgesics. The most common side effects of febuxostat include abnormal liver function tests, headaches, and diarrhea but they tend to gradually subside. It also comes in the form of Uloric.
- PROBENACID – This medication is prescribed to increase the amount of urate excreted in the form of urine from the body. This is prescribed after the Gout attack is over. They are not meant for the patients at the time of acute Gout attacks. It is also known as sulfinpyrazone. It can greatly help kidneys get rid of excessive formation of uric acid. This medication is specifically useful in stopping the formation of tophus in the patients and can also reduce the size of those already present.
Most of the physicians categorize the medications used for treatment of Gout as uricosuric agents and Xanthine Oxidase inhibitors.
